Mein Kleiner liebt Tiere und ein Satz, den ich im Moment ständig höre ist “Loch graben, Würmer sehen!”. Da ich nicht ständig Löcher graben möchte, habe ich folgendes gemacht:
Ein Wurmglas!
Man füllt dazu einfach abwechselnd Erde und Sand (oder nur Erde) in ein großes Glas und setzt dann ein paar Würmer dazu. Oben drauf habe ich dann noch ein wenig halb kompostierten Kompost gegeben und ein paar Küchenabfälle.
Die Würmer leben im Glas und durch ihre Bewegungen mischen sich nach und nach die Sand- und Erdschichten. Außerdem kann man oben gut die Kleinstlebewesen beim Zersetzen der Küchenabfälle beobachten. Die Würmer tauchen ab und an an der Seite des Glases auf, aber wer sie gerne mehr unter Beobachtung hat, kann sicher auch ein sehr schmales Glas nehmen.
Der Deckel sollte nicht oder nicht lange zugeschraubt sein, damit die Tierchen Luft bekommen (oder man macht Löcher rein) und wenn’s zu trocken wird, sollte man auch mal gießen.

My little one loves animals and one of the sentences I hear a lot these days is “Dig hole, see worms!”. And since I don’t want to dig holes all the time, I made this:
The worm jar!
You fill a big jar with layers of soil and sand (or just soil) and pour some worms in there. On top I put some half composted compost and a few kitchen snippets.
The worms live in the jar and their movements mix the sand and the soil by and by. You can also observe all kinds of tiny decomposers at work on top. Every now and then a worm shows up and you can watch it. If you’d like to see them more often, use a jar that’s more narrow.
The lid should not be screwed on or not for long anyway (unless you put holes in it). Also the worms should be “watered” gently if it gets too dry in there.
